Ninth Circuit to Hold Special Sitting at Lewis & Clark Law School

SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit will hold a special sitting on September 14 at the Lewis & Clark Law School, 10101 S Terwilliger Blvd. in Portland, Oregon. Oral arguments will be livestreamed and begin at 9 a.m. PDT in the law school’s McCarty Classroom 1. A valid photo ID is required for admittance.

The three-judge panel will consist of Circuit Judge Michelle T. Friedland, Senior Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher and Circuit Judge Ana I. de Alba.

Cases on the docket are:

  • Bird, et al. v. Alanson M. Randol DDS, PC, et al., an appeal from the district court’s partial dismissal and partial summary judgment in an employment discrimination action. Case No. 25-1714

     

  • Morae v. Nike, Inc., et al., an appeal from the district court’s summary judgment in an employment discrimination action. Case No. 25-2423

     

  • Dang v. Blanche, a citizen of Vietnam challenges an agency decision denying a motion to reopen and terminate removal proceedings based on a gubernatorial pardon. Case No. 25-2795

     

  • Albarran-Sotelo v. Blanche, a citizen of Mexico petitions for review of the Board of Immigration of Appeals’ dismissal of an appeal of the denial of asylum and related relief. Case No. 25-5904

     

  • Silva-Cruz, et al. v. Blanche, citizens of Mexico petition for review of the Board of Immigration Appeals’ decision upholding an immigration judge’s denial of asylum and related relief. Case No. 25-7120

     

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit hears appeals of cases decided by certain executive branch agencies and federal trial courts in nine western states and two Pacific island jurisdictions. The court meets monthly in San Francisco and Pasadena, California; with regular sittings in Seattle and Portland, Oregon; as well as special sittings at other federal courthouses in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Honolulu and Anchorage, Alaska.
